Film Studio.

An integral part of the plan rests in the documentation of these stories. Given the age and health of many of these veterans, the plan is to take the film studio to the veteran.  This will not only to help to facilitate the recording of these oral histories but will do so in such a manner as not to disrupt the lives of these veterans.

The Four Winds 5000 is built on a Ford F450 Super Duty Chassis. This V10 powered widebody motorhome features 1-1/2" x 1-1/2", 16 gauge tubular steel welded floor system built upon a full rear frame extension, engineered to maintain structural integrity and towing efficiency. The fully-welded tubular aluminum roof and sidewall cage construction supports the laminated roof, walls and floors which incorporates the energy-saving high-density block foam insulation over which the seamless fiberglass exterior sidewalls and one-piece rubberized roof provide for maximum durability. Another feature is the long limousine-style wheel base which provides a smooth and safe ride.
The living area will provide both the veteran and camera crew with all the comforts of home. The couch in the living quarters will provide our veteran with a relaxing environment prior to filming.  The booth style dinette in the rear part of the motorhome will be used as a general working area both in the preparation and editing phase of each video shoot.

The spacious overhead cabinetry and raised oak cabinet doors also incorporates a front TV cabinet. Satellite ready, the motorhome has been wired with phone jacks, cable TV and antenna TV hook-ups.  The booth style dinette in the forward cab area, along with the fully-equipped galley/kitchen, complete with a refrigerator-freezer, 3-burner high-output gas range top and residential-style microwave, offers the veteran and film crew with easy access to food and drinks during and after the shoot.  In between shoots, the living quarters also affords our camera crew with a place to sleep in both the forward and rear areas.  In addition to the bunk beds in the rear, the couch/bed and the full size bed over the cab area can comfortably accomodate a film crew of four (4) and the full bathroom is designed for maximum accessibility and convenience.  To provide for the safety of our veterans, the Four Winds 5000 features an automatic electric (rubber tread) entry step, radius-corner entry and interior compartment doors.  In addition to the rubber tread entry steps, the LP leak and CO detectors are provided for maximum safety for crew and veteran alike.

The 28D Four Winds 5000 comes with a 13,500 BTU roof air conditioner. Fully air conditioned inside, the ultra quiet Onan Generator should provide an ample source of power when 30 Amp power is not available on the film site.  In addition to the Onan generator, a battery and propane gas tank, as well as hook-ups have been conveniently grouped together on the driver’s side rear section for the convenience of the operator.
Combining the best features of a motorhome, the 28D Four Winds 5000 would afford us with a means to take the film studio to the veteran by utilizing the rear cabin area as a small film editing studio. This area would be converted into a small film studio accessible from inside forward the living area. A custom equipment rack for our on-site editing equipment would replace (or modify) one of the standard overhead storage compartments in the studio area.

A Four Winds 5000 type motorhome built by Thor Industries has been specifically selected for this project. Utilizing the 28 ft. Four Winds 5000 model, the 28D floorplan is seen as one of the most affordable dual purpose vehicles for our filming needs.
